The art of the title sequence

Dawn of the Dead - Opening Titles

This title sequence is not just about the titles themselves but it also has clips with action in of what the film is about, which shows of part of the movies story making the viewer keen and interested in the film right from the start, which I think is a good idea because, although it is only a title sequence and seem to short for anyone to notice or care about it acts as part of a story line for the rest of the film meaning that it can capture the audiences attention right from the beginning, which gets the audience into the movie. I found this title sequence to be exciting by it catching my attention straight from the start and this is one my main targets to achieve with making my title sequence.

What I also liked about the title sequence for "Dawn of the dead" appealed to me, because it is unique, also what appealed to me was the titles themselves with the animation/colour simulating blood streams used on the titles which sets the film up as being a horror thriller. The movement of the titles as well as the transition of the blood streaming across the screen is quite unordinary which I like.

There are a lot of different aspects that appealed to me about this specific title sequence such as the use of cuts with the cuts linking the story to news affairs about what is going on also I liked how the colour is edited from the film being in colour to going black and white in parts. This title sequence gave me a lot of ideas to think of for my title sequence in how to show action in-between titles and how to make the title abstract and unordinary by using different tools to edit by.
